Frequently Asked Questions
How do I make a reservation?
There is a Priority Wait List Agreement that you can complete right now. The enclosed form, along with a check for $2,500 will reserve the unit type of your choice.
Is the deposit refundable?
It is refundable at any time. Simply send a request to The Lodge asking that you be removed from the wait list. Your check will be refunded to you within two weeks.
Are short-term leases ever offered?
Yes, depending on availability. The Lodge at Otter Creek & The Lodge at Shelburne Bay are pleased to provide short-term respite care or seasonal stays.
May I pick the specific Apartment or Cottage that I want right now?
Yes. Upon making a deposit, you may reserve a style and a location based on availability and have right of first refusal, should you wish to "hold" that particular apartment or cottage.
Can I bring my own furniture?
Yes. Apartments are unfurnished. Residents are encouraged to make their home their own. Bring your favorite furnishings, art, decorations, everything you need to feel at home.
What can I expect for increases in the monthly fee?
There is very likely to be a small increase each year. Percentages will vary according to increase in costs experienced by The Lodge. We do our best to minimize the increase. As an example, The Lodge at Shelburne Bay average increase has been 4%.
May I have guests for meals and overnight visits?
Your guests are always welcome at The Lodge at Otter Creek. If you are having friends or family join you for a meal, please let our staff know a day in advance. There is also a private dining room if you'd like to hold a special gathering.
Is transportation available?
You'll always be able to get to your destination in The Lodge at Otter Creek's 14-passenger wheelchair accessible bus. There are daily scheduled trips to local stores and restaurants as well as thoughtfully planned social outings. Transportation for more personal use, such as doctor's appointments or trips to the airport, is easily arranged by scheduling in advance.
May I bring my pet?
Yes, pets are part of the The Lodge at Otter Creek family, too. Both dogs and cats are permitted as long as residents are appropriately able to care for them. Please check our pet policy for full details.
What happens if I need more care?
The Lodge provides a continuum of care. This means that as residents' needs grow there are several levels of care to accommodate changes in health and ability. Our goal is to help residents enjoy the most independent lifestyle possible for as long as possible. If a change in health is short term, such as recuperation from surgery, we will either assist in coordinating additional services in your home, or for a short stay in a higher level of care. Residents of The Lodge have priority admission to higher levels of care within the community.
